Asheboro Passes

I'm happy to announce that we now have implemented on-line Asheboro passes. Current CCC members should see a "My Asheboro Pass" link over in the left-hand menu right below "My Account". Click that link and use the printer friendly link to print out your Asheboro pass. This link will always be available as long as your membership is current. When your membership expires, you will see a message on that page letting you know it has expired and prompting you to renew. Once you renew, the pass will become available.

User accounts

Straightening out user accounts has been one of the biggest challenges of this migration. Any given person could have had a forum username, an amember username (the system we used to use to manage CCC memberships) and those could have been the same, had the same e-mail or been completely different. Sorting through this has been like a logic puzzle of ever changing variables.

All the amember username and passwords were brought over and are tied to the membership info (visible on the CCC member tab on the "My account" page). Anyone who was is/was a CCC member (current or expired) should be able to log in with their amember username and password.

The discussion boards

The discussion boards did not get brought over from the old CCC site. It became too complicated to try to bring in the number of posts that were there, and we made the decision that all the important discussions could just start new here. This also means that private messages did not carry over from the old site. I apologize to anyone this inconveniences, but this was a pretty huge undertaking and I'm pleased I managed to move what I did.

Getting notified

The new site supports notifications, but they are not on by default. To get an e-mail when someone replies in a forum topic or a particular story is updated or commented on, you need to enable notifications. You do this by clicking on "My Account" and then on the "Edit" tab. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to the "Messaging and Notifications Settings" and set things up there.

Note that you can get notifications immediately, hourly, daily, weekly, etc. whatever works best for you. You can get them as HTML e-mails, plain text e-mails or simply as private message notifications within the site itself that will show up when you log in and click on "Messages".

You'll see links like "Subscribe to: this post" below various things and clicking that will get you notified.

Building a new CCC Site

The new CCC site has been a pretty significant undertaking. The biggest single challenge has been trying to unite the amember, phpBB and Joomla user identities. I've given it my best shot, but there's a real good chance that some people aren't going to be identified correctly. If you log with your forum username and don't see a "CCC member" tab in your profile ("My account") that shows your membership info, try logging in with your amember username and password.

You can contact me at bpayst [at] carolinaclimbers [dot] org and I'll do my best to get things straightened out. Please be patient, I'm pretty much a one person show on this migration.
