Laurel Knob Party Report

At Camp Merrie-Woode on Saturday, May 9th, CCC and Cashiers-area climbing enthusiasts celebrated the completion of CCC's Laurel Knob acquisition. Because of the generous support of the outdoor and rock climbing industry, as well as rock climbers the world over, the loans which made the initial purchase of Laurel Knob possible are now completely paid off. Climbers from North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and elsewhere attended the party. Camp Merrie-Woode's fine facilities provided burgers and hot dogs hot off the massive grill, and Brevard Rock Gym and Looking Glass Outfitters generously provided the beer.

With Harrison Shull/Appalachian Aerial Images photos of Laurel Knob rolling, Anthony Love, CCC President, formally recognized and thanked John Myers and Sean Cobourn for their conception and initiation of the Laurel Knob acquisition. Photographers Scott Perkins and Jonathan Hollada later gave a fantastic slideshow of beautiful rock climbing images from Laurel.

The CCC would like to extend a very special thanks to Denise and Jim Dunn of Camp Merrie-Woode for generously providing an absolutely perfect facility and location in to celebrate.
