As you know the Triple Crown has been a major supporter of the ongoing efforts of the CCC. The Triple Crown Bouldering Series raises money for climbing access organizations, American Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity. The Triple Crown
Bouldering Series has paid the lease for the Ashboro Boulders for the last 2 years in a row, helped to pay off Laurel Knob and now they have stepped up to support the new Rumbling Bald Acquisition.
This past weekend, the final event of the 2009 Triple Crown Bouldering series was held at Stone Fort in Chattanooga Tennessee. Climbers from all over the U.S. congregated to enjoy the fine and cool temps on the beautiful sandstone at Stone Fort. The wetaher forecast was grim starting out, but close to 350 competitors braved the forecast to complete under partly clear skies yesterday. During the award ceremony for the event, Competition organizers, Jim Horton and Chad Wykle presented the CCC with a check for $5000.00 in support of the Rumbling Bald West Side Boulders Acquisition.
We can't thank Jim and Chad and the rest of the event staff enough for another wonderful competitions, and for providing the most comprehensive support for climbing in the Southeast. These folks work their butts off to put on the BEST competition series in the United States. The countless hours of hard work, the generosity of the outdoor industry and YOUR support are what makes these competitions such a great success. The success of the competitions is illustrated by the areas that are open today because of its organizers fund raising efforts. Stone Fort, Yellow Bluff, Steele, Laurel Knob, Boat Rock, Asheboro and Cumberland Trail Areas.
