The NC DOT last year made the decision to close the rest area along HWY 221 that serves as the parking access for the Blowig Rock Boulders. The rest area will be closed to Hightway traffic from Sept. 30th - April 1st. This does NOT mean the climbing area is closed, just that its parking is limited to what is available in front of the barricades that will be placed at either end of the rest area. Please park straight in (90º to the length of the barricade) so as to allow the maximum amount of parking. We will continue to work with the DOT to see if we can have this decision reversed. Please DO NOT park at the church across the street.
