Preserving, protecting, and expanding your climbing opportunities

SAVE THE DATE: March 24, 2012 South Carolina Jocassee Gorges' Mini Trail Day

Ever tire of Rumbling while the high country just got a foot of snow?  Well please consider a slightly further drive (30 min?) south to sample some stellar SC pebbles!

Jocassee Gorges' contain many fine gems that SC's Department of Natural Resources has given us access to!  In return we’re planning a “quick and dirty” trail day on some trails used by boulderers.

Saturday, March 24, 2012 (8:30 AM to 1:00 PM)--meeting place to be announced.

Saturday afternoon and Sunday will be free for bouldering and Brad Caldwell (CCC’s Phoenix Fire) can give us all the beta we need!  The bouldering photos in this set are actually from a Jocassee Gorges’ bouldering area!

2012 Peregrine Falcon Closures

It's that time of year again - the seasonal Peregrine Falcon closure go into effect January 15th, 2012. The attached document has all the details, but here's the highlights of the affected areas:

BOO-YAH! SC TRSP Adopt A Crag!

Nearly 40 participants warmed up a sharp and frosty Saturday morning by really shaping up SC Table Rock's climbers' trail.  Deadfall removal, fence and step installation, and general grunt work were cranked out by all.  Thank you volunteers and park staff!!

A few remaining daylight hours allowed for some quick cragging and bouldering.  (STAY TUNED: Pics coming soon!)

The complimentary BBQ and vegi chili hit the spot and we raised nearly $700 for the CCC thanks to our gear raffle and a generous cash donation from Sunrift Adventures!

The slide show and a bit of exciting video brought the evening to a close with a great tour of NC/SC classics and obscurities.

Topos: Two Classics of SC Table Rock Park!

Stone Wall Action

SWA was TRSP's first route and one that truly exemplifies the impeccable style of the late Doc Bayne.  A must do for any serious 5.11 NC trad climber; Classic face climbing with amazing features, well protected cruxes, and just enough spice to keep your attention!

Local School System

Undoubtedly a modern classic! A very light rack and draws takes climbers through some of the wildest features on the mountain!

Please stay in tuned for more trail day info!
