The CCC and the Chimney Rock State Park are working together to try and better manage the impact of rock climbing in the boulders at rumbling bald. This project is the first step - we will be tackling erosion and 'sprawling impact' issues on two boulders state park property.
CRSP is very concerned with the environmental impact of the boulder field, and legal access to new bouldering areas is up in the air. They are also undergoing a management change. I can tell you that projects like this where we are out there doing work for the park goes a long way toward opening new areas - not just bouldering but other areas we are trying to open such as Ghosttown and the North Side.
This is a fairly small project, if we get 8-10 folks we can get this knocked out pretty fast! The more the merrier, come on out and support the CCC and CRSP.
