Thank you for visiting the CCC's Hurricane Relief Fund. The needs in our region have rapidly been evolving, and we have used this fund to fullfill as many needs as possible within our community. For the sake of full trasperancy to donors, we have kept our updates on this page for each major turn this storm has brought us:
11/5/24 UPDATE:
We have hired three awesome individuals whose former employment was affected by Hurricane Helene. This brings our C4 Team to five people equipped and paid to reopen and rehabilitate our climbing areas. Our C4 Team will also partially focus on aiding humanitarian-based organizations that are implementing relief efforts. The more funds we can raise, the longer we can keep these employees giving back to the areas and communities that are vital to our climbing community.
10/16/24 UPDATE:
Hurricane Helene has profoundly impacted the communities we serve, damaging homes, businesses, and infrastructure, and affecting several climbing access areas. Landslides, structural damage, and downed trees now block safe access to many beloved climbing spots. Many individuals in our outdoor recreation community are also facing unemployment due to the storm.
In response, the CCC is proud to announce our ‘Hurricane Helene C4 Program,’ a minimum two-month initiative aimed at providing income support while rehabilitating the most affected climbing areas. Founded during COVID-19 to assist those laid off, the Carolina Climbing Conservation Corps (C4) will again focus on employing individuals for trail-building tasks across the Carolinas. Support from this relief fund will help us launch this vital program.
10/7/24 UPDATE: The situation in the mountains is rapidly evolving, and the CCC is doing our best to respond to immediate needs accordingly. Support from this relief fund will continue to go toward direct relief efforts in WNC, in addition to stewardship work to rehabilitate and reopen climbing areas. Thank you for your support!
9/30/24 Establishing This Fund: We’ve established a fund to purchase essential supplies for those impacted by the storm. Your contributions will ensure that the most critical needs are met in the hardest-hit areas. Any remaining funds not used to purchase supplies will be used to support local Helene relief efforts in Western North Carolina, Upstate SC, and the High Country.
Together, our strong community will rise to support those in need during this challenging time. Thank you for your compassion and commitment to making a difference.
