Steep South Film Showing at Center 45
Steep South was created to tell locals and visitors about the climbing, developing, stewardship, and preservation efforts in our community. These films highlight the importance of access to climbing for local climbers in the Southeast. The goal of this specific event is to increase awareness and raise funds for the Carolina Climbers Coalition.
We will be opening the night with the first installment of Steep South's Filling the Void: Chapter 1 on Denny Cove, TN. After the initial film, we are proud to be presenting the brand new Chapter 2 on Rumbling Bald, NC.
Rumbling Bald South, owned by Chimney Rock State Park and Carolina Climbers Coalition, boasts over 400 routes and 1,200 boulder problems. Hickory Nut Gorge is also home to the recently opened Eagle Rock, Chimney Rock Village Boulders, and Buffalo Creek Park. Yet 80% of the Gorge's climbing remains closed to the public. The second film of Steep South's Filling the Void series showcases CCC initiatives to open more historic climbing zones and demonstrates how local access efforts are imperative to conserving the Hickory Nut Gorge.
As we hope to raise funds for the CCC, this is a ticketed event:
1. CCC members pay $5
2. Non-CCC members pay $10
3. Get a ticket and CCC annual membership for $25!!
