Buffalo Creek Trash Pickup
Join the CCC with help from the Rutherford Outdoor Coalition on Saturday September 14th at Buffalo Creek Park for a community trash clean-up effort as part of the state's biannual "Litter Sweep." From 9am - 12pm volunteers will assist in clearing trash from the main parking lot and the road/creekside leading towards a new auxiliary lot that will soon provide a shorter access to the boulders and summit view. All tools, and PPE required will be provided. All are welcome, climbing prowess is not a prerequisite.
For those interested in a one-of-a-kind guided hike, feel free to stay after and join C4 Trail Leader Daniel Van Brocklin on a hike along the Upper Boulders Trail, leading to the summit view at the trails end. The total hike is 2.5 miles each way with about 750ft of elevation gain, and includes a beautiful creek crossing, several world class boulders, and a vibrant natural ecosystem.
Bring enough water and snacks for a typical afternoon hike, and your curiosity. Ever wonder how the trails were created, or just why there are so many switchbacks? Now's your chance to find out! There are over 100 locust log and stone steps along the trail, and Daniel knows the story behind each.
Total hike time: Prepare for 2.5-3 hours depending on size of the group
