"Intro to Trad Climbing Clinic" with Open Air Guides
Step into the world of traditional (trad) climbing with this hands-on clinic designed for climbers looking to expand their skills beyond sport and top rope. You'll learn how to confidently place passive and active protection in real rock, evaluate placements for quality and security, and build three-piece anchors using natural and gear-based options. The day includes mock lead practice, where you'll place gear while on top rope, giving you the chance to develop judgment and flow in a low-consequence setting. This clinic is ideal for those curious about leading trad or wanting to understand what goes into a safe and well-managed trad climb. Please note this clinic is not offered by CCC, and Open Air Guides will be your guide for the day. You must register separately.

About the Climbing:
Moore’s is a gem — sharp quartzite, epic views, and routes that’ll keep you on your toes. Trad climbers love it for classics like Zoo View (5.7), and there’s tons of quality bouldering too.
You’ll want solid gear skills and a good head — placements can be tricky, and the climbing’s often full-on. There are fixed raps in some spots, or you can hike down via the trail and gully between the Amphitheater and Dolphin Head.
The climber-designated parking lot fits about 15–20 cars. Carpool if you can (from Torys Den lot), and park smart to make room for everyone.
