Stone Mountain Access Celebration
In 2025, the CCC has celebrated our 30th anniversary with a series of access celebrations on the climbing lands we help manage. Join us for these celebrations of access, conservation and community!
Come Celebrate Stone Mountain State Park!

Park at the Lower Trailhead parking lot and Meet in the field at the base of the South Face just past the Hutchinson Homestead at 10am
Join us to celebrate what makes Stone awesome — access, conservation, community and slab climbing. Whether you’re a regular at the crag or just getting to know the place, come connect, climb, and learn a little more about this granite like dome located in the northern piedmont region of North Carolina.
What's going down:
- Access talk: Hear the stories of how climbing access at Stone came to be!
- Crag tour: Get the lay of the land with a quick walk-through of the area.
- Community climbing: Team up, find some partners, and go climb!
*This isn't a guided climbing event. You are climbing on your own and at your own risk. Bring your own gear and know your stuff. The CCC is not setting up climbs for this event.
About the climbing:
Slab climbing at its finest, Stone is a winter destination for NC climbers and visitors alike. Long runouts are common. Stone is a head game for the leader. Two moderate gear-fests are quite popular and protect well (No Alternative and Great Arch).

*In general, and especially if the weather is nice then strongly consider carpooling because a major section of parking within the park will be closed starting November 2nd for construction purposes
