Climbmax Climbing at SMAC has been matching membership fees throughout October, up to $500. Thank you Climbmax and thank you CCC members! We currently have 635 members and growing, thanks to matching programs like this. You can also sign up as a CCC member at SMAC throughout October. Transylvania County Tourism has awarded the CCC a grant to continue trail work at the four access trails of Looking Glass Rock. Thank you past and future volunteers who have made this project an ongoing success!
For Charlotte climbers, the adventure tap at Legion Brewing is for the CCC. $1 from every Adventure Tap pour throughout October will be donated directly towards the CCC. Thank you Legion!
Hound Ears: A huge congrats to Triple Crown Bouldering, who celebrated 25 years of the Hound Ears Bouldering Comp this month. The event has been a continual source of support for the CCC, SCC, and AF. Thanks to incredible raffle sponsors like Marmot and several membership renewals, we raised $2900 for the CCC! Our public meeting notes are here.
Kayah Gaydish Stewardship Awards: Each year we give this award to individuals who have selflessly served access and stewardship around the Carolinas. This year’s awardees are Adam Tripp (Pisgah Trail Crew Leader, bolt replacer, and consistent volunteer), James Ledgerwood (Chimney Rock State Park Superintendent who has been a key partner in expanding Rumbling Bald parking and expanding climbing access at Eagle Rock), and Michael Trotter (Table Rock State Park Manager who has played a pivotal role in opening Pumpkintown)
Special thanks to Sean Cobourn, Alan Irwin, and several area climbers and several area gyms who donated ropes to the retired rope sale. Sean and Alan raised over $1,000 for the CCC last weekend, totalling over $10,000 since they started this fundraiser!
Tim and Nora Fry, recently got married and their wedding event raised a total of $3,478.62 for the CCC! George Green also put together a plant sale that raised $139 for the CCC! Contact us if interested in supporting access and stewardship of our climbing areas in your own creative way.
We received a $500 Access Fund anchor replacement grant and $400 matching funds for continued rebolting work at Cook’s Wall and Sauratown Mountain. Thank you Access Fund!
Laurel Knob: Please access the area via Panthertown ONLY. Please do not cut through neighborhoods or private developments. Hidden Valley: Do not bring dogs to Hidden Valley. We are nearly sold out of Protectors Program packages. There are only two left for this year!
