Have you heard about the new 1 year access agreement we have set with the Whiteside Cove Cottages? It provides reasonable access to a plethora of boulders and potential cliffs in Whiteside Cove. CCC members, check it out here. New bouldering access confirmed: We have yet another access success to share with you! Bailey Mountain Preserve encompasses a 200+ acre preserved mountainside, water shed, and yes, some boulders! The boulders are located about 1.75-2 miles up trails that lead toward the summit of the mountain. There are maybe 6-12 boulders with nice climbing potential. Enjoy the hike and boulders! Consider donating to Bailey Mountain Preserve to help great public access initiatives and conservation initiatives like this. Their main stipulation with bouldering is that chalk is cleaned up and NO TICK MARKS.
Asheboro Boulders will be changing ownership hands again. We are working with the new owners to hopefully maintain climber access at Asheboro. Please know that climbing access at Asheboro has never been permanent, but know that each time the land changes hands, we are steadily working on maintaining climbing access to this great boulder field. Reminder, you must be a CCC member to enter and leave no trace-- no tick marks or chalk everywhere please!
Teer Quarry: Our access proposals for the Teer Quarry in Durham have been denied. Special thanks to the city of Durham for entertaining our proposals and to AJ Jackson and Andre Caesar Chiquito for working on the proposal.
Chimney Rock Village/ Round Top Boulders: We have been working with the Chimney Rock Village since February to open a new bouldering area. The CCC has been planning a trail build leading to boulders, views, and a small waterfall and now it is time to build! The trail build will be involved and we need volunteers! We have identified 8-12 nice boulders on the property. If interested in volunteering with the trail build, please email mreardon@carolinaclimbers.org.
