Getting to see everyone IN PERSON at this past week’s Triple Crown Bouldering event at Hound Ears was as refreshing as a bomber #2 cam on a wet slab. Our annual meeting was also in person for the first time in two years. If you missed the minute, you can see meeting minutes and our slide show here. In total, we gained 40 CCC annual members and raised $3,000 towards access and stewardship in the Carolinas and beyond!

Kayah Gaydish Stewardship Awards 

Kayah was a natural caretaker and lifelong steward who gave selflessly to our wild public lands. Each year, we honor a small handful of individuals with a Kayah Gaydish Stewardship award. This year, Erin Martin and Tim Martin, Bryce Mahoney, Bryan Miller, Dan VanBrocklin, and Mike Trew each received this award due to their ongoing on-the-ground access and stewardship work. Both Mike Trew and Bryan Miller are transitioning off of the CCC Board of Directors. Their collective work has had a profound effect on access in the Carolinas and will be felt for generations to come. Thank you Mike and Bryan!

Inner Peaks, Break the Nose 

Break the Nose is a 12 hour endurance climbing competition held at Inner Peaks on Oct 23 6am-6pm, with proceeds benefiting the CCC's access and stewardship work. Inner Peaks/ CCC membership match: From now until Oct 23, if you sign up as an annual CCC member at Inner Peaks, they will match your contribution! Double your impact to access and stewardship in the Carolinas. Thank you Inner Peaks and thank you prospective CCC members! 
Rutherford County TDA Grant 

The Rutherford County TDA has given the CCC $10,000 in support of our Chimney Rock Village Boulders project. The trail is currently about ⅓ mile long and we have been building since last year with our C4 Team. We hope to complete the main trail build this coming Oct 15-17 weekend, but will continue to extend the trail and extend the climbing access in years to come.Thank you Rutherford County and C4 Trail Team supporters!

Oct 12, 8PM: CCC Virtual meet up. All about stewardship. Come on out! Click here for the zoom link. 

Oct 15-17, 9AM: Chimney Rock Village Boulders weekend with our C4 Team, Access Fund, Riveter, Steep South. Come on out to help build the trail to new boulders. Steep South will be filming trail building and climbing on Oct 16. Bring shoes, pad, optional trail tool.

Oct 15, 6-8PM: CCC pint night at the Riveter with Onsight Resoles and a raffle benefiting our C4 Team. Volunteer for the Chimney Rock trail day and get free raffle ticket!

Oct 23: Break the Nose at Inner Peaks (see above)

Oct 24, 9-1: Inner Peaks and CCC Crowders Mountain stewardship day, Linwood parking: Following the October 23rd Break The Nose event, the CCC and Inner Peaks are partnering on a Crowders Mountain stewardship trail workday on Sunday Oct 24th from 9AM to 1PM. Come on out and join us for a day of stewardship and fun in which we will finish the staircase at David’s Castle and also clean litter and graffiti from the main areas at Practice Wall, David’s Castle, Red Wall and Gumbies areas. Join us to be entered into the gear and swag raffle. You must be present to win. Once we finish the trail day and clock out, we can all hang out, share tech tips and climb together. Cya then!

Nov 6, 9-1: Brown Girls Climb/ CCC Moore's Wall Stewardship Day: Brown Girls Climb and CCC will be leading a Moore's Wall stewardship day on the parking lot expansion area. This stewardship day is in support of New England BGC leaders organizing the November BGC, a national stewardship event during Native American Heritage month. The BGC stewardship is a two part event consisting of a local crag clean up the weekend of November 6th/7th and a virtual celebration will be hosted on BGC's (@BrownGirlsClimb), Tuesday November 9th. All participants of an in-person clean up will be entered into a raffle with cool prizes during the virtual celebration event!

Peregrine Work

CCC volunteers have been working closely with NC Wildlife to help biologists research peregrine behavior and review closure boundaries, balancing recreation and conservation. Last week, Access Fund’s Zachary Lesch Huie, Lynn Willis, and Mike Reardon of the CCC collected specimens from the Big Lost Cove eyrie while CCC President Tom Caldwell and Mary Caldwell collected specimens from the Looking Glass eyrie. The specimens were given to biologists to determine reasons of nest success or failure. Photo: High South Creative
South Carolina Climbers Festival Dec 10-12
