Whether you've clipped a bolt, rappelled from a bolted anchor, or had a loved one participate in climbing activities involving ropes, bolts have been a crucial safety component. The Carolina Climbers Coalition (CCC) is dedicated to stewardship, including vital bolt replacement and maintenance across climbing-permitted lands in the Carolinas.
Old mechanical non-stainless steel bolts can rust and lose holding power over time. Our volunteers work tirelessly to remove these aging bolts and replace them with durable stainless steel ones. A stainless steel bolt, when properly placed, can endure for generations without compromise.
Each year, CCC volunteers replace an average of 150 bolts, but our task remains ongoing. Many bolts and fixed anchors in the Carolinas date back to the 1950s, predating the widespread use of stainless steel in climbing hardware. Your support will help us accelerate our efforts to transition to sustainable stainless steel equipment.
Join us in our mission! Donate today to our rebolting campaign and help us ensure safer climbing experiences for all in the Carolinas and beyond. Every donation counts and will be matched by projectROCK, doubling your impact! |
