Climbing and Conservation

A great crowd turned out at Black Dome Mountain Sports to hear from Conserving Carolina, Wild South, state biologists and CCC board member Laura Boggess about the intersections of climbing and conservation. This important discussion included topic such as rare plant communities and how climbers can help (of special importance in Linville Gorge). We also gave a check for $15,000 to Conserving Carolina for the construction of the Eagle Rock Trail in Chimney Rock State Park. That trail work is funded by grants from REI & the American Alpine Club as well as the CCC. Thanks to everyone who came out! You can find a copy of Laura's presentation here.
