Community. Stewardship. Access. In the past five years we have turned the Upstate of South Carolina into a climbing destination area by opening Big Rock and Pumpkintown to climbing, and by extending the open climbing on Table Rock. Two brand new climbing gyms are coming to the region thanks to this growth in access and community. We have a lot to celebrate and hope you can join us in the celebration!

You can register as an in-person participant or as a digital participant. 

Digital participation includes adigital guidebooks to Big Rock Bouldering and Pumpkintown Rock Climbs. You must purchase your T-shirt seperately before Nov.14 IF you decide on the digital registration option.

In-person participation includes a festival T-shirt if you register by Nov. 14, 2 nights camping, digital guidebooks to Big Rock Bouldering and Pumpkintown Rock Climbs, dinner Saturday night, climbing pioneer slide show Saturday night, access to clinics, awesome raffle items from our sponsors, stewardship event on Saturday, community climbing, crag tours, crag cooking clinic, photo shoots, and more!

Saturday Dec 11, 9:00AM: Option 1: Carpool from the festival grounds to Big Rock for a half day stewardship day and half day community climb. Option 2: Climb on your own at Pumpkintown or Table Rock. 

      5:30 PM: Dinner provided. Details to come on dinner items. "Cooking at the Crag" demo by Food for Adventures

      6:30 PM: Climbing pioneer Stephen Scoff slideshow

      7:30 PM: Raffle

Sunday Dec 12, 9:00AM: Option 1: Community climbing at Pumpkintown, Table Rock, or Big Rock. Emphasis on Pumpkintown!  Option 2: Register for a clinic on this website at check out. Clinics are limited capacity and will fill!

"Cleaning Anchors" ($15 add on): One of the most committing elements to climbing is cleaning anchors. Learn proper techniques from Pisgah Climbing and Outdoor Guide's Jamar Woods.   6 people max. Half day. 

"Self Rescue Toolbox: Essential Hitches and Knots for Rescue" ($25 add on): Build your tool box with Fox Mountain Guide's Anthony D'ercole.  6 people max. Half day. 

"Advanced Multi-pitch Efficiency: Tips &Techniques for Managing a Three Person Team." ($50 add on): Build your multi pitch skills with Fox Mountain Guide's Forrest Stavish. SORRY, SOLD OUT!  Full day. 

"Multi-Pitch Skills Clinic" ($45 add on): A life long skill for climbers is mastering the art of multi-pitch climbing. Learn from Pisgah Climbing and Outdoor Guide's on this multi-pitch clinic.  SORRY, SOLD OUT! Full day.

"Gym to Trad" ($30 add on): The transition from climbing in the gym to out leading a trad route is daunting. Let the American Alpine Club Atlanta Chapter take out some of the mystery of that big step.   5 people max. Full day.

"Intro to Trad" ($30 add on): Learn gear placements and considerations for trad protection with NC Outdoor Adventures.  SORRY, SOLD OUT!  5 people max. Full day.

"Climbing Training for the Weekend Warrior: How to train less and climb more with Carter Smith" ($10 add on): This clinic with Carter, professional climbing coach and CCC Board member, will look at how climbers with limited time to train can make the most of short training sessions. 

 

Festival Location:

The festival grounds are at a former wedding venue along the wonderful Eastatoe River. Access will be available for festival registrants only! Please do not come to the festival grounds if you are not registered as an in-person participant. PARKING IS VERY LIMITED. Please carpool. 1233 Cleo Chapman Highway  Sunset, SC 29685. This location is about 10 minutes from Big Rock and 10 minutes from Table Rock/ Pumpkintown. 

 

Festival and Clinic Scholarship:

The scholarship is open to climbers who identify with a historically underrepresented and marginalized community. The goal of the scholarship is to provide an equitable opportunity for climbers to attain free access to the SC Climbers Festival and attain free outdoor climbing education. We want to continue to diversify the outdoors and prevent economic barriers. If you would like to apply please  email info@carolinaclimbers.org with 100-200 words how you would benefit from this scholarship.

 

FAQ's:

Weather??? Refunds???: In the case of severe weather, we will have to cancel with hopeful rescheduling. We can not issue refunds. 

Can I bring my dog???: We love dogs, but we ask that you do not bring dogs to the festival grounds. Big Rock and Table Rock State Park allow dogs on leashes. 

I am a beginner climber and would like to attend, will you guide me up the rock???: All climbing activities are at your own risk. If you wish for a professional guide service, we recommend taking one of the clinics offered by professional guides. The CCC or its volunteers are not a guide service, however, we welcome new climbers. It is highly likely that if you follow the group of folks headed to the rock for community climb-times that you will find climbing partners. Community climb-time is not a professional service, not sponsored or promoted by the CCC, and climbing is at your own risk. 

I have 5 friends and we each want to drive seperately, is that okay???: Please carpool. Parking is very limited at the festival and at Big Rock. Carpool. 

Alcohol???: We have beer sponsors Silos Brewing. Responsible alcohol consumption for those of age will be allowed at the festival grounds, but not at any climbing venue.

Kids???: Bring them!

Camping???: Tent or vehicle. Nice camping areas near the Eastatoe River. Port-a-potties at least.
