Tom Caldwell - Vice President
I grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia. I ventured south for college at The Citadel. I found my way to Clemson for graduate school where I was first introduced to climbing in the gym in 2005. My love and passion for rock climbing exploded in 2006 when I had my first outdoor trip.
Little did I know when I first started climbing that I was in one of the most incredible spots for rock climbing in the country. It is not just the rock, but the people that make this area so wonderful. Climbers in the area know that if you frequently visit the cliffs in this region, you will see a lot of the same people. This sort of atmosphere creates tight bonds among each other that feels like a family.
Early on, I was happy to help the family through trail days and fundraising events. The more I got involved, the more I began to see things that could improve the rock climbing in the area. I am honored to be part of the board to work on my ideas and give back to the community.
I live in the Clemson area and I work at the University as a scientist. We try to get out to rock climb as much as possible and love traveling throughout the region. If you see me out, come say "hey". We are always excited to talk about anything rock climbing.
