Table Rock, SC Post-Fire Update

The largest fire in Upstate South Carolina history took its toll on Table Rock. We want to thank the hundreds of fire fighters and park staff who risked their lives to create fire breaks and stop the spread of this roughly 15,000 acre wildfire.

 

CCC members Tom and Lizzy conducted a trail assessment this past weekend. It looks like we have some extra trail work in our future but overall, the trails faired well. Larger trees near the cliff burnt heavily. We now have confirmation from the park that climbing is OPEN. Take special care around detached flakes and vegetated islands on the cliff. Rock fall is always a potential hazard at every cliff, especially after severe weather events.
